THE MOXY COHORT
Professional Education for Cannabis Accounting
This 8-week live accounting program is designed for anyone who is ready to provide quality accounting and tax services to the cannabis industry. It's for those who want to do more than check boxes and file forms - but rather shape this industry as trailblazers. With no bright lines and no set industry standards, accountants in this space must have the expertise and ethical fitness to make the right decisions and give the right kind of advice to their clients.
That's why we created the Moxy Cohort.
This course is not only about getting workpapers or checklists, it's about observing what's different about cannabis and thoughtfully craft your own position. In our office, the answer to most any tax or bookkeeping questions is - it depends. Context and situations matter. Learn from our years of experience in the cannabis industry, in live small group environments designed to foster critical thinking, problem-solving and interactive learning. The Moxy Cohort gives you the tools you need to confidently serve the cannabis industry.
Our eight week course will teach you how to:
As CPAs, accountants and tax preparers, what is our professional risk for working in cannabis? Identify steps to Cover Your Accountant Position and learn about the challenges this industry poses.
Create a Unique Initial Consultation
Examine why initial consultations are important and how Moxy’s consultation is different from the current industry standard. Learn how to prepare and execute an effective consultation that will bring value to your firm and to the potential client.
Perfect Bookkeeping & Documentation
Documentation is the building blocks of a defensible and deductible COGS position. Learn how documentation for cannabis may differ from a traditional business with regards to banking, payroll, bill pay and cash management and see the risks and rewards of preparing books for cannabis businesses.

Class format - The cohort meets once a week on a live Zoom call. Each call is 2 hours and 30 minutes with a lecture, broken up with "Cohort in Action" discussion times and group case study problems.
Special Office Hours - In the cohort, there are no stupid questions. One session in every cohort is dedicated to interviewing a subject matter expert in cannabis to get their take on the industry.
Small groups - Our cohorts are capped at 15 seats to ensure interactive learning.
Course materials - Each session has supporting materials to help students with their research & learning as well as checklists and tools for future use. All course materials and call recordings are housed on our community platform and are available after the course has ended.
Ongoing discussion - Each cohort has a private discussion board on our community platform to connect during the week and provide support as we work through each session. Keep in touch with your cohort well after the class has ended.
Get CPE - We are NASBA sponsors and provide up to 14 credits of CPE to those who need to maintain their CPA license. Certificates are provided after each session.
